Testing, Testing... AU-TI-SM!
I'm heading down under! Ok, not really, but I love what their academia community is doing for our community. Professor Robin Young has been making some pretty significant strides all in the name of autism. She developed a program that recognizes autism in one-year-olds. In a recent interview with ABC News, she made the following statement: She says her program - used in South Australia - works to get 12-month old children to engage in more social behaviour. Professor Young feels that diagnoses at age 3 or 4 are too late for early intervention to be successful. Imagine a world... Where children are diagnosed within their first year of life. Imagine a world... Where parents don't have to argue with pediatricians. Imagine a world... Where voices are heard and care is... readily available. Imagine.
